Directions to park: - Access is CLOSED. The canyon is owned by the Shoshone & Arapaho Tribes and climbing is not allowed! Please contact the Shoshone & Arapaho Tribal Game and Fish office for further details. From Thermopolis, go 10 minutes south on highway 20. Potential climbing begins east of road at north end of canyon. Canyon rock starts near picnic shelter and short cliffs on left. At mile marker 125, sandstone cliffs fade to long stretch of dolomite bands. Past mile marker 124, Wind River Pinnacle on left. At mile marker 1221, easy access to roadside dolomite sharp boulders. Mile marker 117.3 begins metamorphic bands and continues to mile marker 116 at south end of canyon.
