Gros Ventre
Mountains, WY
We Need Your Picture

Directions to park: This mountain range extends from Kelly to Bondurant, east of highway 191. Because it's so close to the Tetons this area hasn't seen a lot of development.

  • Jackson Peak 10,741': From Jackson, head 10 miles east on Flat Creek Road. Park at Curtis Creek Camp Ground. Hike 5 miles south on Goodwin Lake Trail. Alpine walls with plenty of potential
  • Hoback Shield: From Jackson, go south to junction of 89 and 189. Turn south on highway 189 for 10.9 miles. Parking pullout on right. Crag on left. Short uphill approach. Good slab, beginner and intermediate area, but be careful of loose rock towards the top.
  • Rodeo Wall: From the junctions of 89 and 189 (south of Jackson), head 2.2 miles south on highway 89. On right at mile marker 139. Obvious, short, but steep, 10 minute approach. Limestone sport crag. Astoria Hot Springs is across the Hoback River.
