Directions to park: The Big Horn Mountains extend about 80 miles from the Montana border to well below Ten Sleep Pass. If you know information about any of the below areas please submit local beta.

  • Little Tongue River Canyon: from Dayton, travel up highway 343 north of town to canyon. Hike into canyon to rock.
  • Twin Buttes: From Burgess junction, head 2.6 miles north of sorest service dirt roads (past picnic area). Turn right onto dirt road pass USFS ranger station.
  • Steamboat Rock: From Dayton, go west a few miles on highway 14 past Fallen City. Prominent rock rampart on right with house-sized boulders below.
  • Fallen City: From Dayton, go west up on highway 14.
  • Shell Canyon: From Shell, drive east up highway 14 to USFS Shell Falls area.
  • Cloud Peak Wilderness Area: From Buffalo, 1 hour west via various access points to the backcountry. Cloud Peak routes on east Face accessed via the following. From West Ten Sleep Lake, walk to summit of Cloud Peak (6 hours). Walk north 5 minutes to top of route. Then continue 100 yards north to descend the 2nd couloir down to glacier. About 1 hour to base of the wall.
  • Crazy Woman Canyon: From Buffalo, go about 10 miles south on highway 196, than about 7 miles west on Crazy Woman Canyon road. Other areas include Elgin Park Wall on road #460, Blue Chuck Cliff #463, TLC wall #473, and walls at #466.
