Directions to park: From Fayettville take Rt. 19 north to the Summersville Lake Bridge. 1/10th a mile past the bridge is a gravel parking area on your right. Park there and follow path up then down over a bridge to a fork. Go right at the fork. Then follow path for awhile past some rusted metal things and cut right at well worn path. Follow path to the lake. Climbing is all along the lake.

Camp-sites:

  • Free Camping at Summerville Lake Dam. The site is a bit manky and don't leave anything you wish to retain (e.g. tent, gear, car, etc.)
  • Camping at Roger's Campground - AKA "Rocky Top Retreat" - Pay (This is the climbers choice)
  • Mountain State Campground - Pay

Online-guidebooks:

Cheap Healthy Eats: A few options in Summersville (north of the lake on 19), most climbers camp and eat in Fayetteville (20 minutes south on 19)
When in doubt about anything ask Roger Fox - he'll give you the beta you need - "Rico is dry and Summersville is nice."
