Directions to park: From Downtown Spokane drive north on Division Street untill the 'Y' and take Highway 2 north for 29 miles. Turn left at State Route 211 and go north 15 miles to Usk. Follow State Route 20 for 45 miles to the town of Metaline (S.R. 20 turns into S.R. 31 at Tiger). Remember, Metaline and Metaline Falls are two different towns separated by a mile of State Route 31 . Washington Rock is clearly visible from Metaline. If you wish to drive to the top of the crag then take a left on Boundary Road, just north of Metaline. This road also goes to Boundary Dam and Gardener Cave. Follow the road up the hill to the transformer station on the right. Behind the transformer station is a road leading into the woods toward the crag. From here follow it to a definite fork. Take a right here and go uphill to the top of the crag. You will have traveled .5 miles to the top parking spot. It's a rough road with the crux near the top so if you don't have 4 wheel drive you might have to park and walk a bit. The other option is to park on the north or south end of the Metaline Falls Bridge. To do this, continue on past the Boundary Road on S.R. 31. Follow it a mile to the Metaline Falls Bridge. Park at either end (don't think of blocking traffic) and the walls above are accessible by walking up the hill via the Public Wall. See the map for directions. |
