Directions to park: From Darrington, several large granitic domes lie to the South of town. Squire Creek Wall: follow Squire Creek Road South West from town for about 5 miles to Squire Creek Wall on right. Wall is to west and involves stream crossing. Other domes: from town, drive south on Mtn Loop highway for about 3 miles Turn right (before Clear Creek CG) on Forest Service 2060 for 5-6 miles to Jct w/FS 2065. At Jct to SE is Exfoliation Dome. Follow FS 2065 to SW past 3 O'clock Wall, Comb Buttress on right, and then at end of road is Green Giant Buttress. See area map for layout of buttresses. Complex of mountainous, multi-buttressed, slabby, knobby faces. This type of climbing referred to by the locals as "knob trotting." Long, hard approaches, and thus, traditionally an area of low visitation. Good potential exists for new routes. As of 2001, Squire Creek Wall remains undocumented and the approach as well as the climbs there are all rather complex and generally serious. The installed hardware of these routs, too, is of mixed quality. Clear Creek rock climbs, on the other hand, have been largely well documented and the access routes have been maintained over the years, as have the routes themselves. While old 1/4 inch bolts are common, many routes are largely protected by new 3/8" stainless steel gear. Soul City and the Bumblebees/Butterlies
