Directions to park: From Rapid City, the Black Hills expand west from town north east to Pearfish and south east to Hot Springs. There is a ton of climbing in the black hills, with the potential of small areas still to be discovered. Some of the areas are:
1. Spearfish Canyon: From Spearfish, go south on highway 14A to roadside canyon walls. Good Ice in winter, some Bouldering and over all is a decent crag.
2. Nemo Boulders: From Nemo, just south of town on highway 2335. Park at Steamboat Rock pullout. Hike West to the climbing. Bouldering.
3. Iron Mountain Highway: From Keystone, go up Iron Mountain road (16A) up to it's crest. Three miles after the crest you'll pass Iron Creek Road. Go 0.8 miles further on 16A. Turn right and go to the end of the road. Continue west on foot for about 10 minutes along ridge then down and right to the base. Bouldering and crag.
4. Keystone areas: From Keystone go about 1 mile west on highway 353. Hike up steep hill to routes on back of rock. Also more climbing about 1 mile south east of town on highway 16 tying into highway 244. On right is roadside slate pinnacle.
