Chickies
Rock, PENN
|
Directions to park: Exit
route 30 at route 441. Take 441 north for approx. 2 miles to bottom of
hill. Park in front of grassy area on the left. Follow trail along edge
of woods to abandoned railroad bed. Northwest pillar is at this point
with some face climbing about 100yds to the left on the railroad bed.
- The Other Chickies - Across
the river and upstream on the york side of the river from chickies lies
a large and complex cliff system of same and better quality than chickies.
Very few people frequent/know about this area, though some very old
pin scars indicated that someone had climbed here years prior.
Take a machete, get out
a map, and be prepared for adventure. Loads of trad in the 5.5 to
5.11 range, with a cool one pitch spire climb that requires a simul
rap off. Be adventuous and enjoy!
