Directions to park: From Las Cruces there are 2 approaches. 1) West side (usual): Take highway 70 east to below San Agustin Pass. Turn right onto dirt road paralleling mtns to south. Two main trail heads accessed off this: a) Turn left to Topp Hut for Rabbit Ears Approach or b) further south then left (before university ave) for Tooth approaches. East Side (brushy, for Surgarloaf/E slabs): 2) Take highway 70 eat over San Agustin Pass. Turn right onto road leading to Aguire Springs Camp Ground. Park at trail head in campground. Hike south for sugarloaf. Route guide at visitor's center outside of Las Cruces on west side of range. The Organ Mountain are a fault of block rising 5,0001 above the valley floor. |
