Shut State Park, MO

|
Directions to park: From Lesterville, Johnson's Shut State Park is on county road "N", off of State Rt. 21, which is a North-South route, which actually goes NSEW through the hills in the area. In the summer season, weekends especially, it is a zoo. Off season, a delight. It is hard to compare the riverbed to anything I have seen. The rock is about 1.5 billion years old, and very resitant to erosion, spiky, lots of bowls and slides. Lots of gaps to jump. Not challenging for a hardcore climber, but a great place to bring the kids. |
