Directions to park: 1 hour past Duluth on hwy 61, 5 miles north of Silver Bay. Just past palisade church on the right take the right turn go up one narrow windy road (leave campers at lot at bottom)parking lot is at top of palisade. No bathrooms so time your breaks accordingly.

Palisade Head is an amphitheater climbing area. Top rope, aid and trad is fun, as long as people know your below. First timers should know once at the bottom there is no way out besides the 2 escape routes north and south, unless you climb out. All climbs are well cleaned no loose rock ,some garbage from tourists lay at bottom so watch your feet. No chalk allowed. peregrine falcon closings depend on where they decide to nest from year to year. Beautiful scenery over looking Lake Superior, tour boats frequent the area, showing off is encouraged. Many lake kayakers stop and trade war storied with you if your near the bottom. Awesome climbing area. Climbing permits can be obtained from the tettegouche state park office free of charge.
