Directions to park: Near Stanley, west on highways 75 and 21. Several USFS road head trailheads begin at alpine lakes and Stanley Lakes. Upper Hell Roaring for Finger of Fate, Yellow Belly, Tin Cup for El Captain, Redfish Lake for Garden of Giants and Elephant's Perch, Petit Lake, and Alturas Lake. The northern end of range has most accessible climbing with access via Iron Creek Road (about 2 miles west of Stanley) and Redfish Lake. Coming from Stanley, many of the climbs can be done in one day, but most are over nighters at least. This extensive alpine wilderness contains many multi-pitch climbs up to 1000 feet.
