Currahee is a wonderful place for first time climbers. It is easily accessed via a dirt road in the lake Russell Wildlife Management Area near Toccoa Ga. The road to the top of the mountain, however, is TERRIBLE, so forget the Lincoln and drive the truck. Routes vary greatly with a range of 5.6 to 5.11c. The sight is maintained by volunteers of the the Southeastern Climbers' Coalition, taking care of trails, route safety and cleanliness. So if you go, be kind and be ready to carry out all you bring in. Trash and graffitti have closed many sites!!

Camp-sites:

  • No camping or fires at Currahee Mountain, but Camping is allowed on the road up the mountain. None is allowed past the sign that says "No Camping etc."
