Mt. St. Helena, CA
We Need Your Picture

Directions to park:Go North on Hwy 29 then head into the town of Calastoga and take a right at a 3 way stop. Go through town and continue up the road out of town and then you will see at turn out with cars... go to the beginning of the trial head. The climbers trail is right after the information sign. Take a left and head up the climbers trail. Veer right you will soon be at the monument continue off left to a bunch of talus and go up. That is the quarry a great place for beginners. Then continue up the trail on the right side of the quarry you will end up on the fire road take a left and you will end up at the bubble. Great top roping and there are a few bolted routes... killer 5.11.... from the bubble either go left to the far side (long walk) or go up the fire road for about 100 yards and hike up the eroded left side when you see a rock formation up the hill. This is the sport area, steep, hard and good rock. 10b-12c.. There is a 2 pitch route up there 2, its a classic.

Great Climbing, lots of sport and top-ropes can be set for a lot of it. During the summer it can get very hot, and during the winter very cold. Also during the spring and winter the trails are worse and the rocks wet from the rain, wait until it has been sunny for a few days. Sometimes there are many climbers at The Bear, but the far side, about a mile to the left of the Bubble has fun sport routes and is hardly ever crowded.
