Directions to park: From Interstate 99, turn onto Hwy 198 East heading through the town of Visalia. Pass Visalia until E. Spruce Road is reached. This is a four-way intersection with a Woodlake Community sign on the corner (the sign has the silhouette of a cowboy/bronco rider on it!). Turn right (south) onto Spruce Rd. and drive 3.1 miles. Turn left on Rocky Hill Road. The road heads uphill on the narrow two-lane road for approximately one mile before bending 90 degrees left. At this bend, park along the berm next to a locked gate. Hop over the gate and either hike up the straight, steep trail directly in front of the gate or bike up the service road. Once at the top of the trail, turn left and join up with the service road again for approx. 1/4 mile. A host of boulders will come into view (a majority of them up near the radio transmitter station). Upon closer inspection, clean, high quality granite makes up the composition of the monoliths encountered. There are few single track trails around the field to make traveling easier. Keep a low profile (access might be in question here). Recommended boulders and problems: Belly Of The Whale Traverse (V2) and Land Of Goshen (V2) on the Eddie Joe Boulder (follow bike trail to the north, 300 yards off of the service road). Also try Pinch-A-Loaf Boulder up near the tower (the obvious overhanging boulder to the south of the upper service road). Supposedly Sharma ticked a few problems here last year (guaranteed V8's and above haunt this area!). The best time to visit Rocky Hill is spring and late fall/early winter. Bring lots of H20 because this place can get warm quick (especially in the height of summer...100 degrees plus!) Also, be on your guard for Western Diamondbacks. These critters tend to be most active in the spring and on into late fall. Don't forget the old crash pad. Landing zones are pretty decent but several of the upper hillside boulders are highball.
