Directions to park:

  • Tortolitas Boulder: From Tucson, go west on I-10 to exit #236 Marana. Go east and north east on dirt roads about 8 miles into Cottonwood Canyon (right at fork at 1 mile, use a USGA map). Tortolitas Boulder is a single boulder, 1/2 mile south east(right) side of the road, 1/2 to 1 before a ranch. Not much here...
  • Silver Bell Boulders: From Tucson, go north on I-10 to exit #242 Rillito. Head west to rocks via Avra Valley Road to Silver Bell. Expert bouldering...
  • Red Boulder: From Tucson, take Ina Road west from I-10. After 3 miles turn left onto Wade road. Drive through Conten Pass and park near 35 mph speed limit sign. The boulder is 1 mile away at the base of the slopes below the cliffs to the north west. Not really visible to right at the slopes. There is a bolt at the top for topropes.
  • Saguaro National Monument: From Tucson, take Speedway west through Gates Pass to 'T' junction. Go right, past Desert Museum, then right into Saguaro National Monument. After a few miles turn right onto the Bajada Loop. Follow this 1 mile to Hugh Norris trail head. White granite boulders on hillside to east and more boulders about 1/2 mile up Hugh Norris trail.
  • Gates Pass: From Tucson, take Speedway west which turns into Gates Pass road. Go 1 or 2 miles west past summit, boulders to south of road at base of slop. Also some boulders east of summit about 1 mile and north of road (5 mile hike). Boulder at the bottom at the west side of the pass. They are mixed in with cactus.
  • The Beehive: South west of Tucson, north of Billby road. Access through several housing tracts. Rock is a bit brittle.
