Directions to park:

  • Pinnacle Peak: From Scottsdale, go north on Scottsdale road. Turn right on Pinnacle Peak road. To the north is PInnacle Peak, on your right is Troone mountain. Park at lot west of Pinnacle Peak Patio restaurant. Hike west up to rock pinnacles. Strict traditional climbing, busy on weekends.
  • Little Granite Mountain: From Pinnacle Peak, take Jomax road to Rio Verde Drive, it's about 2.3 miles. Follow Rio Verde east past Reata Pass to 136th Street north to power lines. Head west toward little Granite for southern half. For Mougules wall, continue on 136th to 2 gates; travel west to Shotgun Parking area. These areas are small granite domes. Bring water!
  • Troon Mountain (Windy walks): From Pinnacle Peak, about 0.5 miles off Jomax road (west of 118th street) on dirt roads to north/north east side of the mountain. Climbing is on cliffs above golf course. Troon Mountian is currently OFF LIMITS!
  • McDowell Mountains (Tom's Thumb): From Pinnacle Peak, take Jomax road to Rio Verde Drive, it's about 2.3 miles. Turn 3.3 miles south on 128th street. Head south on many dirt roads. Try Phoenix Rock guide book for route information.
